Pedro Martinez(4-1) thrilled the fans at Yankee Stadium as he crafted a no-hit
masterpiece against the Mud City Manglers. The Philadelphia Phantoms won by
a final score of 3 to 0.
Martinez was cheered on with every out from the 7th inning onward. The
adrenaline had to be just pumping through his veins. The atmosphere was
electric out there in Yankee Stadium this afternoon! He allowed Mud City just
one walk. The Philadelphia players and coaches started to leave Martinez
alone with his thoughts after the game reached the 7th inning. By the time
the 9th inning rolled around, you could hear a pin drop every time he went to
his wind-up - and an explosion after every out. Philadelphia managed 7 in
their victory.
Tomo Ohka(0-1) suffered the loss. He gave up 3 runs and 7 hits in 6 and 2/3
innings. What a show!' George Gouvas said. 'Martinez was great out there --
I'm happy that he got it.'
